Welcome To the New School Year!

We are off to a great start this school year.... Our new sixth grade class is adjusting to changing classes, meeting new friends, and opening lockers which can sometimes be the most frustrating. Our transition program for sixth grade students, Cougar Camp helped the transition. Cougar Camp was featured in The Birmingham News, the Eastern Area section on August 8, 2007. We appreciate the dedication of Mrs. Ellis to make this program happen for our sixth grade students. We would also like to thank the many volunteers: our teachers, our parents, the P.T.A., and CCHS students.....

Parents, You are Invited!

We would like to invite you to breakfast. Your support and understanding of your student’s team of teachers is critical to your child’s academic success. Although middle school students are becoming more independent, they sometimes are not the best communicators of what a parent needs to know to help their student be successful in school. Area restaurants will provide some food and the Cougar Café will serve biscuit and gravy for $1.50. Our goal is for you to meet with your team of teachers so they can provide you with information that will assist you and your child while they are a student at CCMS.

Cell Phones & Electronic Gadgets

Please remind your student about the rules regarding cell phones. If they must bring a cell phone to school, they need to turn it off and place it in their locker. We cannot be responsible for all the electronic gadgets that enter our school building. Do not allow your child to leave your presence with CD players, I Pods, etc. As you can only imagine, a middle student cannot coordinate carrying their books and these items from classroom to classroom. It becomes an administrative nightmare to locate them when they become lost or stolen.

Please Help with Pick Up and Drop Off Procedures

Please make sure you follow correct procedures when dropping your student off in the morning or picking your student up in the afternoon.

Morning Procedures

The only place students are allowed to enter the building in the morning is through the gym. Please make sure you drive through the car line by the lunchroom and on around past our new track. The gym is on your right. Students should not be released from your car on the main Cougar Drive, by the basketball courts, or in either of the faculty parking lots. This is for the students’ safety.

Afternoon Procedures

Our car riders are released from school at 3:00. They exit out the front doors and walk down the front sidewalk and stand in front of the sixth grade hallway. For safety reasons, students are not allowed to walk across Trussville-Clay Road to load into cars in the church parking lot, load into cars on Cougar Drive, or
