Clay-Chalkville Middle School opened in August of 1996.  The school was built to relieve overcrowding at Hewitt-Trussville's Middle School and Junior High.  The name Clay-Chalkville was chosen to reflect the two communities (Clay & Chalkville) that together comprise the majority of our student body.  In keeping with the letter "C," found in the school name, the COUGAR was a natural choice for school mascot.

Dr. Alan Stevens was named the first principal of CCMS.  He is also responsible for designing the school logo.  Mrs. Carolyn Patrick became the second principal in 1997 after Dr. Stevens left to take a position with the Jefferson County Board.  The current principal is Mrs. Mo Williams. Our three assistant principals are Mrs. Janice Granger, Mr. Jay Gary, and Mrs. Janet Johnson.  Mrs. Granger has been at CCMS since it first opened.
