Students at CCMS are introduced to the basics of art through a Nine Weeks Art class in 6th grade. In 7th Grade, art students are challenged beyond the basics. They learn what it takes to make quality works of art. By the time art students reach 8th grade, they are well versed in the basics of art and are capable of creating quality art. 8th grade Art is about continuing to improve technique and making art personal by expressing yourself.
All students are graded on 1) Craftsmanship, 2) Understanding, and 3) Participation.
Skill, or talent, never plays a part in grading art. Effort and willingness to try are key.
